5 Games I'm excited to play

I try my best to keep up to date with new releases, but I also try not to have too many games on the go at once. I prefer having 2-3 I can switch between and that way I can swap fairly regularly without forgetting what's happened in any particular game.

Every year, we get to October/November and every single game I had my eye on, releases. This means it could be months before I actually get round to playing a particular game I was interested in.

Here are 5 games that I'm looking forward to playing, some of these are slated for a 2022 release and others I just haven't got round to playing yet!

Dawn of Ragnarok

Okay, technically not a game but this is the next DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. We've already had Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris along with a handful of smaller content updates, but the next big DLC is Dawn of Ragnarok. Annoyingly Ubisoft have confirmed that this isn't included in the season pass and must be purchased separately. Maybe they'll do a season pass for Year 2?

Assassin's Creed Valhalla was one of my favourites in the series and this is a series I've been heavily invested in since 2009 with the release of Assassin's Creed II. Having already put 250+ hours into Valhalla, I'm very much looking forward to jumping back in. Having read up on the bits that have been released about the DLC, it promises to be an interesting one!

Forza Horizon 5

Forza is a series I've enjoyed since first playing Forza Motorsport 2, admittedly I did get a bit bored of the Motorsport series during Forza Motorsport 5 and didn't get very far in with it.

Having skipped Forza Horizon 1 and 2, I decided to give Forza Horizon 3 a shot and absolutely loved it! I put 200+ hours into it, completed the base game and all DLC and just wanted more. Then came Forza Horizon 4, set in the UK, which again, I loved! I put another 200+ hours into the series, the DLC for that game was phenomenal.

It was only a matter of time before Forza Horizon 5 was going to be announced, which it was earlier this year! Set in Mexico, which seems pretty ideal. The trailer looked fantastic and I have a bunch of friends already playing it which love it!

The Eliminator Battle Royale mode makes a return, which I'm okay about. It got a lot of hate it Forza Horizon 4 but I actually really enjoyed it!

The bonus with this game is it's on Game Pass as Playground Games are owned by Microsoft Game Studios!

Fable

Following on from Forza Horizon 5, I'm beyond excited to play Fable, which is also coming from Playground Games (oh hello future Game Pass game!).

Fable is a series I adore. I actually played the series slightly out of order, I went from Fable 2 to Fable 3 and then Fable Anniversary. I've also played most of the spin-off titles such as Fable Heroes and Fable Kingmaker.

💡
Fable Kingmaker was a game that linked in to Fable 3 in which you had to go round the real world and plant virtual flags and take over territories from the other team. You'd earn gold that you could then transfer into Fable 3. This was during my final year at college and I used to leave my house ridiculously early (6:30 - 7am) and plant flags around the local town... I really wanted that gold!

We still don't know too much about this Fable, most of what is online is purely fan speculation, including a theory about how this Fable is an MMO (please... no). We do know it's going to be powered by the same engine as Forza Horizon though!

I would be very surprised if this releases in 2022. I think we're most likely looking at a 2023 or even 2024 release date.

Halo Infinite

I'm holding off on playing this for a while because I've played way too much Halo this year and needed a break!

I was really into Halo in the 3/ODST/Reach Era having played them all on the Xbox 360, I missed Halo 4 but did pick up Halo 5 for Xbox One and played it very briefly back in Feb 2016. Earlier this year I decided to go back to Halo 5 and actually complete it, turns out I only did the first level in 2016 so I restarted the game to remember that 1 level!

After finishing Halo 5, I then decided to re-play Halo Master Chief collection. Again, I'd picked this up years before and played it very briefly. This was during lockdown so I had a lot of time on my hands! I ended up playing through Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo Reach and for the first time, Halo 4! I expect Halo 5 to be added to MCC at some point so I'll most likely replay it through that as I really enjoyed it.

Halo Infinite looks incredible and I am really looking forward to playing it, but I'm going to give Halo a break for now!

Call of Duty: Vanguard

Yes... really.

Actually, I do already own this and I have started it but I haven't even completed the first level so this one also makes the list.

Having played every main game in the series, I wasn't going to let this one slip past. I've always enjoyed Call of Duty games set in WW2, I'm hoping this one is just as good!

I'm looking forward to giving Zombies a go! I don't even want to think about the 100's of hours I've put in to killing them. I do wish it would return to its roots though, remember World at War zombies? I find the mode now is too overwhelming, especially the story of Zombies! I mentally clocked out of that years ago and have no idea what's going on now.

The multiplayer maps seem really cool. Hopefully match making is improved this time round as trying to get a game in Call of Duty: Cold War was quite a task.
