Some really cool BFCM screens

More and more companies these days are jumping on the "let's create an amazing screen for Black Friday/Cyber Monday" bandwagon and this year, there was a couple of really amazing screens. I want to highlight a couple.

My absolute favourite was the one Shopify created. In fact, this might be the coolest thing I've ever seen on the Internet ever, not just for Black Friday.

BFCM Screen for Shopify

Shopify created a fully functional spaceship cockpit for their Black Friday / Cyber Monday screen. When I say fully functional, I mean you can flick switches, push buttons, unplug wires, disable gravity, turn off the lights, spin the globe and there's even a hidden easter egg somewhere 👀

This was shared in a work group chat and it's some seriously impressive engineering. As Black Friday is over, it now just replays the peak of Black Friday but everything is still functioning as it was on the day.

You can visit it here so go and have a play around with it!

The other screen I want to highlight is the one Stripe created, which is another genius idea of showing Black Friday / Cyber Monday data outside of the usual big number on a screen:

Stripe went with a more retro looking screen with moving graphs, tickers and even a working printer. You can click basically anything on the screen and it will zoom in to an old style instruction manual showing much more detail:

So cool! I'm really looking forward to seeing more companies jump on the bandwagon and come up with awesome ways of showing their data for the BFCM period.
