Waffenträger: Reckoning

Waffenträger: Reckoning

Well, it's that time of year again! Waffenträger is back in World of Tanks, which means it's time to team up with 5 other players to take on the Blitzträger auf E 110 and hopefully defeat it!

If you haven't read it, I highly recommend checking out the article from the event last year. I won't go into how the mode works because really, it hasn't changed that much from last year but I'll be sure to discuss in this article, where it has changed. You can read all about the event last year, here:

Waffenträger: Projekt Hyperion
Since September 25th, I’ve been spending an hour or so each day playing the latest Waffenträger chapter in World of Tanks called Waffenträger: Project Hyperion. The mode itself is pretty simple, you team up with 5 other players to take down the Blitzträger auf E 110, driven by Ermelinda Jung.

So this is one of my favourite modes within the game because the rewards are decent and the mode is actually really fun. The mode started slightly earlier this year on September 20th and will run until October 5th.

This time round, we're taking on Max von Krieger in the Blitzträger auf E 110 and as I mentioned, the mode hasn't changed too much. The tank has 32,000 health, you capture generators to bring the shield down and then attack until the shield goes back up. This year though, he's joined by his daughter, Ermelinda, who joins part way through each match to help her father, driving the Eos 1. Ermelinda will attempt to "lock" generators from being captured, ultimately making it harder for the team to bring down the shield of her father. She can, however, be defeated and has 9999 health, if you take her down, then the mode becomes a lot easier.

The maps and tanks were the same as last year, I really was hoping they'd introduce a new map but it was not meant to be. Again, similar to last year, I spent most of my time playing the Thunderbolt but occasionally dabbled in the other 3 tanks.

The progression system was back, offering daily missions to help get you through the really easy 20 stages which allow you to unlock some really decent rewards including premium days, bonds and keys to drive the Blitzträger auf E 110. From start to finish, it takes around 9 days to complete, providing you do all of your daily missions. There is of course a set of missions for playing as the Blitzträger auf E 110 which count towards 6 of the stages. Although the number of tokens you get has remained the same, you can complete each mission 3 times, instead of 2 times, which is what it was last year.

Completed Progression System

I played a handful of games in the Blitzträger auf E 110 and I'd say I won around 75% of the games I played, which is a really good feeling especially because it's you vs 6 humans! There were a couple of close calls but I found a lot of games were an absolute walk in the park, like the enemy team gave up after a while.

Of course, it wouldn't be a World of Tanks event without loot boxes and they make a return this year. There's 2 different types, Harrier Crates and Engineer Crates. Harrier Crates are very common and include rather common items including credits, first aid kits, repair kits and more. For completing the progression, you get 20 crates in total.

Engineer crates are much more special. You get 2 for completing the progression and they include things such as tanks, styles, premium days and gold. I decided to treat myself this year and bought a bundle of 75 Engineer crates, in hopes of getting one of the tanks, the Tier VIII Heavy, Projekt Ion (spoiler alert, I didn't get it), but look how awesome it looks!

Tier VIII Projekt Ion

That said, based on how much I spent on the bundle, I definitely made my money back. Here's a breakdown of what I got:

  • 7500 Gold
  • 23 Training Booklets
  • 47 Days of WoT Premium
  • 4950000 Credits
  • 2D Style
  • 9 XP Consumables
  • 30000 Free XP
  • 8 Free & Crew XP Consumables
  • 10 Additional Credits Consumables
  • EOS 1 3D Style for Leopard 1
  • Pojistka 3D Style for TVP T 50/51
  • Resistor 3D Style for Obj. 140
  • Tier VIII KV5
  • Foundre 3D Style for B-C 25t
  • Tier VIII Astron Rex

The gold and credits alone come to more than what I actually spent, so I'm really happy about that. I love the 3D styles I got and have them equipped already! Hopefully Projekt Ion comes up for sale in the future though, I still really want it!

My time in Waffenträger has came to an end once more. I'm now looking forward to the Halloween event, which I have a sneaky suspicion we'll be back in Mirny!
